Statement issued by the Chief Justice and Presidents of all Courts outlining the Court Services update in response to COVID-19

Locations

The Chief Justice and the Presidents of All Courts delivered a statement on 20 July, updating the Court's recommendations in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In their statement, they have advised that all persons should wear face coverings in court, save for those who for medical or other welfare considerations are unable. The only exceptions to wearing a facemask are when giving evidence, questioning a witness or addressing the court.

The statement also allows anyone wishing to use a face covering when addressing the court or giving evidence to do so unless the presiding judge considers it prejudicial to the matter.

This advice is alongside strict compliance with current public health guidance concerning COVID-19 such as maintaining two metres of physical distance at all times, engaging in frequent handwashing and complying with respiratory etiquette.
